I was in Finland last week and had the pleasure of meeting with some of the artists who out of their commitment to anti-racism of all kinds, launched a principled strike calling for the Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma to respect the human rights of all people, until the museum guarantees that it does not receive financial or other support from those involved in the arms trade or the oppression of people in conflict zones.
These artists are standing in global solidarity against harmful oppression and for human rights and the freedom to protest in support of Palestinians.
There is absolutely nothing antisemitic about criticizing the state of Israel for its decades of military occupation of and human rights abuses against Palestinians. I commend these artists on their principled anti-racist work.
